Guests often praise

  • Clean and tidy rooms with comfortable beds for short stays
  • Friendly and helpful reception staff offering smooth check-in

About this property

Welcome to Travelodge Exeter M5

Travelodge Exeter M5 is a budget-friendly hotel situated within the Moto Service Area near the Sandygate Roundabout, offering convenient access to the M5 and surrounding Exeter area. The location suits visitors focused on sightseeing and recreation, with nearby attractions such as Exeter Cathedral and the Royal Albert Memorial Museum within easy reach. Exeter Airport is just a short 9-minute drive away, making this a practical choice for quick stopovers.

The property features simple, no-frills accommodation with basic amenities including limited free parking and paid Wi-Fi, subject to time restrictions. Rooms are clean and generally comfortable, although some guests have noted that beds may not be ideal for extended stays and that window ventilation is limited. The hotel is smoke-free, pet-friendly, and accessible, but lacks air conditioning, restaurant facilities, and fitness amenities.

Guest reviews highlight a mix of experiences: staff are often described as friendly and helpful, with efficient check-in processes, yet some feel the service can be inconsistent. While the setting near the service area means there is easy access to numerous dining options nearby, including fast food outlets and convenience stores, the hotel itself does not offer on-site dining. Families and travelers seeking affordability and practicality for short stays may find this property suitable.

Overall, Travelodge Exeter M5 offers a straightforward place to rest for those passing through or visiting Exeter for a limited time. The combination of location, value, and basic facilities aligns with travelers looking for convenience rather than luxury, making it a functional base for exploring the city or continuing onward journeys.

Very useful place to stay. Some staff were friendly but others were disinterested and unhelpful. The room was clean. The car parking was good as it has CCTV. The Park and Ride is very close but not always very punctual or comfortable to travel with. The down side was the amount of people smoking just outside the premises and we had to walk through their smoke to enter the building sometimes.

Stayed here for a week its was really cheap, really clean and the staff are great, but the rooms are definitely not made for a stay longer then 2 nights after 2 days the mattress is bad for you're back and the pillows felt like soft bricks. But woth that said definitely a great affordable hotel for a night or 2

I visit a lot of travelodges and this one was one of my favourites. Even though you are by the services you couldn't hear the traffic. The room was big with everything I needed. Very clean too. Bed was very comfy with extra pillows. Bath is a little one but I prefer a bath to a shower so was glad I had one. Staff were very friendly and checked me in with no bother. I travel alone so feeling safe is really important and I definitely did here so thank you for a very relaxing night

An absolute delight to meet Sophie on reception last night. She was pleasant and helpful, even advising that the local carvery had a half price deal on . We were offered the choice of which floor we wished to be on, never been given that option in any other Travelodge. The room was clean, although a tad chilly, heating system needs sorting. My only gripe was that the bed could have been more centralised as it was very close to the bathroom wall. All in all, one of the nicest Travelodges that we've stayed in.

I was very pleased with the lovely receptionist. The hotel is well situated. Unfortunately, windows were locked to get nice cold fresh air so during the night was a bit too hot inside the room.

Good Travelodge just of the M5, good location for getting into and around the Exeter area. Room was a decent size which was clean and tidy. Comfortable bed and a lovely shower. Staff at reception was nice and friendly would recommend for an overnight stay.

I had a lovely stay here with my little boy the room was immaculate, they don't cater food but where it's situated there are so many options in terms of eating, m and s, wh smiths (ready made sandwiches) , kfc, burger king, noodles bar, pasties stool, Costa, and so much more, if you have children head into Exeter town centre and pick up some croissants, cereal bars, bannanas ect and buy some fresh milk in the morning from the BP garage which is a 2 minute walk from the travel lodge, the staff are so friendly welcoming and it had a very cosy feel, pets are allowed again no issues very quiet and calm. Would highly recommend leanne moylan
